Corozal youth drowns in Progresso Lagoon
A young man from the Corozal District has died, apparently of drowning. Police report that seventeen year old Hilmar Lino of Progresso Village and four others went fishing Tuesday evening in Progresso Lagoon. Their canoe capsized, however, and all five were thrown into the water. While four of the men, including two of Hilmar’s brothers and a cousin, stayed afloat and made it safely to shore, Hilmar went under and did not resurface. His body was recovered about forty-five minutes later and pronounced dead on arrival at Northern Regional Hospital.
