Education Minister Patrick Faber meets with teachers
Education Minister Patrick Faber met with teachers from the Belize District this afternoon at the Princess Hotel to discuss a range of issues within the current education system. Today’s meeting was part of a countrywide series of discussions to update teachers on the progress of the ministry in addressing key areas of concern. Among the issues is the removal of corporal punishment from classrooms. You would recall a year ago tension was running high between MOE and the Belize National Teachers Union over what they considered the premature removal of corporal punishment from the existing system. A task force was subsequently appointed following the passage of the Education Bill to find alternative means of discipline within classrooms across the country. The removal, it was noted, should be final by August, at the start of the upcoming academic year. Another issue discussed during today’s meeting was the need for adequate teacher training. Consultations have so far been held in Punta Gorda as well as Dangriga town.
another part of this useless gov. this guy needs to be replaced with someone who can lead the edu dept instead of taking it down in the ground education is the worse its ever been in the history of belice sure you can blame it on the students you can blame it on a host of other things but it boils down to one thing there is no real leadership i say this guy along with this pm needs to go resign faber resign you are failing as a leader resign.
@ Rod….why don’t you step into his position and lead the department? There are a lot of issues affecting our Educational System…what are your suggestions? Have you rallied your troops to get those suggestions heard?? I don’t think so…I’m sure he’s doing what he can…maybe you can help him???
