Teacher robbed; but culprit captured
We reported the bad news on Wednesday night that a teacher was robbed at the Holy Redeemer School. Tonight we report that another teacher was targeted on Tuesday night in Ladyville. But the good news is that her robber is behinds bars and that’s where he will remain for the next year despite his claim that he was drunk when he stole the teacher’s purse. Shantell Neal was ambushed on Perez Road and her purse was stolen by her attacker. Neal recognized him as Derrick Sanchez and when he was later picked up, he took the cops to the site where the purse was hidden. It still contained the teacher’s cell phone and passport. This morning, twenty two year old Derrick Sanchez, a resident of Crokiko Street in Ladyville pleaded guilty to the charge of theft. But Magistrate Aretha Ford sentenced him to one year because of a 2006 conviction for robbery for which he still owes the court two thousand dollars.
