Chilling details of plot to murder businessman and family

The 2008 plot to kill a Belize City businessman and the kidnapping of his family members made many in the business district tighten the security measures at their establishments and at their homes. The cold blooded details are just coming to light.  After over two years behind bars, the Supreme Court trial for five of the accused men has finally begun. The sixth suspect, Francisco “Pancho” Martinez has since absconded to Mexico after he was released on bail. Today, Miguel Mayorga, Eswin Rosalez, Carlos Juarez, Cesar Aldana and Jose Cordova were indicted on one count of Conspiracy to Commit Murder; one count of Conspiracy to Commit Robbery; two counts of Kept Firearm without a Gun License; and two counts of Kept Ammunition without a Gun License. The firearm and ammunition charges are for a point thirty-eight special P.M.C. brand revolver and a point twenty-two L.R. caliber firearm along with bullets, which were allegedly found in the men’s possession. As many as eight witnesses are expected to be called; the first of whom was Jose Shoman who told the court he received a call on the night December twelfth 2008 from an employee, Alex Miranda, who warned him about the plot.

Miranda also took the stand today and told the chilling tale of what would have transpired at the Shoman home that night. According to Miranda, Aldana called and told him to pick some money at his house. But when he went to the house, Aldana was not there and he instead met him a nearby shop. Miranda says he was then taken to Mayorga’s apartment where Martinez and three Guatemalans were also waiting. That’s when he was told about the plan to attack the Shoman family. Miranda, who was employed at the family’s house, was asked to open the front gate, allowing three of the men to enter, while the others would gain access through the back gate near the river. Miranda testified that the gang would then tie up and gag Shoman before gathering the rest of his family into a room. They would have asked him to sign a check and if he refused, Martinez allegedly said that he would kill one of the children. The men also knew that money safe was kept on the second floor and Miranda said that one of Guatemalan men told him that if the safe was empty, they would cut each family member’s throat and escape in one of Shoman’s vehicles. The courtroom revelation of the murder plot continues on Friday before Justice Adolph Lucas.

So the escaped fugitive just escaped across to Mexico end of story, right? What happed to the law in Mexico, and why are they not helping to find this animal. Flight risk and still given bail by the courts, but else is the court system good for, but to set criminals free.
If these animals had succeeded this would have become one of Belize’s most gruesome murder, because murdering innocent children were involved. We do not want these savages to be deported this time; we want the law to make examples of them.

  2. rod says:

    hang them all.

  3. Xaan says:

MY Gosh! the things that are happening in this Country! Lord have Mercy on us all

  4. bzemom says:

Belize has become a dangerous place to live and visit. This all started when the GOB took in all those Central American refugees, they have no morals. The type of crimes they commit are far beyond what Belizeans were used to, now our own people are learning from them. Send them all back to their country, they have made our counrty look like a total slum. Why would the courts give a flight rish individual a bond, please wake up. and let’s save BELIZE.

  5. Belizean says:

This is so sad. This could happen to anyone. Thank God one of the men had the decency to warn the family. The others are simply animals. Imagine employing these animals, paying their salaries and feeding their families while they plot and scheme to kill yours. I don’t know what Belize is coming to.

  6. Guate friend says:

Kidnapping and extorsion is rampant in my country, business people need to go around with armed body guards, every house or business with surveillance cameras and razor wire fences, and when the ransom is not paid up pronto the victim is usually ruthlessly murdered. Make an example out of this gang lock them up for many years, don’t let this crowd spoil your jewel. this is a level of organized crime that your country has not seen yet.

  7. daveyt says:

Just the fact that one of them got bail speaks volumes about the inept so-called justice system in Belize.

    Drugs money rules in Belize!

My money is on their being released due to any of , or a combination of the following:

    Lack of Evidence
    DPP drop the case
    Missing case File
Missing evidence (Police paid to ‘lose’ important evidence & documents)
Technicality – one name spelt wrong, so they all go free
    Dickie bradley
    Dickie Bradley
    Dickey bradly
    Hostile witness
Victim doesn’t want charges to proceed (Threatened to drop the case or be killed)
witness refuses to testify or show up

    Sound familiar????????

  8. Sorry says:

We all know that Belize is a dangerous place to live. But someone out there tell me where is a safe place to live on this earth. We have wicket people all over the world. And in Belize City, who are those youths killing each other everyday. Where do they come from? The majority are born Belizeans are cold hearted. And these belizean youth neva learn anything from any refugees.

But ,” Look around you and be distress, look within you and be depressed, look to Jesus and be at rest”

  9. The People Had Enough says:

There will be no change in Belize until we hit a complete social breakdown, until we hit rock bottom, too many people are still comfy with their existence, we need to go deeper into the rabbit hole, we need more deaths, higher cost of living, more blatant government corruption, then and only then will belizeans get up off their lazy @$$*$ and stand up, until then this is where most of the standing up will remain, right here on the WWW.

  10. Roughboy says:

We must follow the US system. Once a foreigner committs a crime/offence, their legal status in that country is revoked and are sent to jail. Belize judicial system is a joke. If a person is convicted of a crime and sentenced for let’s say one year, he only spend about half or less of his time. If the jail sentence is one, make it be one and not one day less. Our laws are too weak to deal with these hard core criminals; they need to be ammended to more severe punishments and enforced .

  11. Immigrant says:

I am sorry to hear the comments that accuse immigrants for causing the crimes in Belize. First of all let me tell you that most of the crimes in Belize in today’s date are gang related… It is true that in our countries Kidnapping and extorsion are common but like someone said.. Belize have not seen this type of crimes and hopefully will not see in the near future.. Immigrants have nothing to do with murders in your country.. These people should be punished.. and sent to jail for a long time but don’t insinuate Belizean Nationals have become corrupted by immigrants as this is complete bs… there are many immigrants in belize that came to work, make a living and raise their kids.. and make very honest living.. no watch we watch youself..

  13. BUT WAIT A MINUTE says:

MANY HAVE SOME DEEP DIRTY THOUGHTS ABOUT MR. JOSE SHOMAN, SO TELL US SHOMAN WHAT DO YOU DO FOR A LIVING AND HOW DO YOU DO IT??? ARE YOU LEGIT???

  14. Richard says:

    start deporting illegals

  15. sasha says:

Everywhere is dangerous to live, but when you have a justice system that is paid by TAX PAYERS, you expect them to give SENSIBLE JUSTICE, they are just collecting FREE MONEY and letting REAL CRIMINALS ARRAY.

  16. cg says:

lol….bzemom….while we are at it, send the blacks back to africa, the chinese and cooley back to Asia, the Menonnites back to Germany or canada..and heck…all the mestizo and maya back to guatemala and mexico……that was such a dumb comment i swear…

crime happens..everywhere….we need to face our own social inbalances before we go out and blame race….

  17. RadicalBelizean says:

Guate friend: Well said. Crime is unacceptably high in Belize. However Belize is surrounded by countries like Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras and Salvador where crime is even higher. Believe is or not it can get worst, so we need punish these guys severely to stop us from reaching those level. Please stop talking down Belize because these heinous crimes are repeated day after day in many countries on this globe. Sadly its human behaviour anyone would think these crimes happen only here. Another thing is when the USA have their Columbine shooting, congress woman shooting and their brutal murders we never hear people saying their president or the mayor etc should resign. It’s mystifying they way some people of Belize thinks.

The most important thing is that the crime was foiled and the Shoman family are safe.

  18. shock says:

When we were under the British rule, these were people who had many centuries of dealing with human beings of many races and nationalities which give the them a wide range of experience of how to manage human beings. There were violence going on all around us in the neighbouring countries yet we lived in peace and tranquility in little British Houduras with population under 100 000. Our police on the boarders carry no weapon even though there were the uneasy situation with Guatemala. The over ambetious egotistical politicians came along and is causing the country to turn into a living hell in leaps and bounds. Drugs picked up speed in the 1970’s by some of the top politicians as the police force was forced to look the other way.

They pointed out all that was wrong by been under British rule, and like a drowning man we reached at the straw in response to the prapaganda of going independent . Ask yourselves the question, what have any of the Belize political leaders lead before been voted into office? Some were humble tailors with no experience of been exposed to making crytical decisons and knew very little of the wider world. Many years ago when some of the previous leaders came to the USA I took them around and introduced them to ordinary business people, and I was embarras when I saw the kind of performance from these politicians. We are no longer tucked away in a little corner of the world, therefore you Belizeans in the country you owe it to yourselves to seek out and ask better than ordinary folks to step up to the plate and become leaders of the country.

The country is badly in need of leaders with serious creative imagination and broad knowledge of the wider world, to form a third party. The reason why the country has not been able to dig itself out of what is claim be left over debt from the previous administration is due to lact of knowledge, and it is use to gain sympathy from the public for nonperformance. They knew that the financial problems existed before they were voted into office, so why is it taking them so long to rectify the problem? WAKE UP BELIZEANS. The country is seriously in need of a third political party that should consist of individuals from the more educated sector of the community. The party that is so-call leading the country is not up to the task, and looking at the leader of the opposition. well! that’s a joke.

Nothwithstanding the need for serious political shake up in Belize, I see a big problem in bringing that about; and the problem has to do with the fact that voters like to feel that political leaders are at their mental level, at least to play the game and go through the motion and appear to be most things to all the people; and that take skills to accomplish. The die hard UDP want to see their party holder on to control, and the die hard PUP want to see their party back in control. In that case, that leave those from both party that see things as they are without bias and are not affraid to cast their vote accordingly, plus those that never vote before. GO FOR IT, maybe some of us out here will support such a party financially.

Is there going to be some form of protection for Alex Miranda and his family for disclosing information of this plot? What is GOB doing to ensure that Alex Miranda is not going to be a statistic as a result of his cooperation with authorities?
