Two men shot in separate incidences on Monday night
Two men were shot just after eight o’clock on Monday night; one in Belize City and another in the Yalbac Area of the Cayo District. Eighteen year old fisherman, Justin Grant, was socializing with friends outside of his home on Conch Shell Bay when they heard a single gunshot. Grant was hit on the left buttocks and was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he remains tonight in a stable condition. A nine millimeter Win Luger brand expended shell was recovered from the scene.
In the second incident, a Valley of Peace resident was shot by his nephew. But it wasn’t because of a family feud; it was a hunting accident. Julio Echavarria Lemus had gone hunting in the Yalbac area along with his nephew, Ugo Echavarria. At around eight p.m. Ugo, who was walking behind Julio, bent over to pick up a machete, but he fell. When he landed, his twelve gauge shotgun discharged, injuring Julio to the left arm and thigh. Lemus was admitted at the Western Regional Hospital, also in stable condition.
