CYDP employees reprimanded for intimate relationship
And two employees of the Conscious Youth Development Programme have been transferred to other institutions following an investigation of misconduct during a youth summer camp. The event was held at Camp Oakley in Burrell Boom Village between August second and ninth for ‘at risk’ youths mainly from the Belize District. Two weeks ago News Five learnt of allegations of unlawful carnal knowledge and misconduct involving staff and at least one of the students. When we spoke then with Director of C.Y.D.P., Edward Broaster, he told us that they were investigating a report that two employees were engaged in sexual relations and that another was seen consuming alcohol during the event. But he did not know of the other allegation that one of the same staffers had sexual relations with a student. Today, Broaster said the C.Y.D.P. had concluded that there was sexual activity but it was between the two employees. For misconduct, he said the two staffers have been transferred and disciplinary measures will be taken against the three. Meanwhile, C.Y.D.P. is still investigating the report of sexual relations with one of the students.
