Mother says son is a victim, not a thief

Story PictureSeventeen year old Conrad Guzman Montes is still in a critical but stable condition tonight after he was stabbed once in the chest on Wednesday morning. The youth underwent surgery last evening and is now in the intensive care unit at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. His prognosis is still guarded and doctors say they continue to monitor his progress, but his family says he is now able to talk. And contrary to one account we got on Wednesday from his friend, Ian Gentle, that Guzman was attempting to rob Westby, Guzman’s mother, Sabina Montes, disagrees.

Conrad Guzman Montes escaped death by about an inch when the blade that pierced his torso narrowly missed his heart.
