New high school scholarship program to be launched Sept.

Story PictureMinister of Education Patrick Faber is currently on a country-wide tour of schools and during his visit to Double Head Cabbage this week, announced that a new scholarship program for needy secondary students will take effect this September.

Patrick Faber, Minister of Education
“This new government will help you in first and second form if you’re a needy student with an additional three hundred dollar subsidy, which is a grant, money that will be given to you for first and second form starting when you go to high school this year. Isn’t that great news? Very good news. So that when you get to high school you don’t have to be worrying about the fees and most of you will be going to Belize Rural High or you’re going to Belize City at Ladyville Technical or Belize City right? and it doesn’t matter where you go, this policy applies over the entire nation of Belize.”

The criteria to qualify as a needy student will be set by officials in the Ministry of Education in time for the new school year. MoE has also committed itself to providing financial assistance to teachers “for them to obtain proper qualifications”.
