Case of U.B. student’s death reopened as possible homicide
At first glance authorities didn’t suspect foul play but new evidence has surfaced in the death of a university student and reopened the case as a possible homicide. Two days ago, the body of University of Belize student, Armin Medina, was retrieved from the Mopan River about a hundred yards from the Bullet Tree Bridge. The official report claimed no signs of violence were observed on the corpse but family and friends questioned the presence of what they allege were bruises around his eyes and forehead, as well as a laceration above the lips. Those queries were bolstered on Thursday when a Bullet Tree villager reported to them that they witnessed someone holding Medina under the water. This evening Officer Commanding the San Ignacio police station, Gilroy Henderson, told News Five that that person has yet to file an official report but informed us that investigators are now reviewing the case and are conducting fresh interviews to determine if any criminality is involved in the young man’s death.
