He robbed the blood bank … and got caught
A man who set out to donate blood, instead stole the nurse’s purse … and got caught. Thirty-eight year old Jefferson Dawson of Ladyville entered the Central Medical Lab adjacent to the K.H.M.H. Wednesday morning and told Nurse Doreen Madrill he wanted to give blood. While Dawson was waiting his turn in the interview room Madrill excused herself to use the bathroom, leaving her shoulder bag on the table. When she returned Madrill noticed her purse, containing one hundred and fifty dollars, was missing. She confronted Dawson and asked him to see what was in his knapsack. He refused and went to leave, saying he no longer felt like donating blood. Madrill called security and they detained Dawson, who promptly confessed to the heist and gave back the purse. Dawson today pleaded guilty to Theft and, because he showed remorse, was fined six hundred dollars by Magistrate Sharon Fraser. If he does not pay by May thirty-first Dawson will serve six months in prison.
