Barrow defends Castro in Crooked Tree controversy …

Story PictureThe ruction over the road being built across the Western lagoon in Crooked Tree Village has settled down following Area Representative Edmond Castro’s decision to seek official approvals for the project. Today, when asked his take on the controversy, Prime Minister Dean Barrow had nothing but praise for the energetic Minister of State.

Prime Minister Dean Barrow
“Mr. Castro has conceded that he did not go about things properly and that has to be accepted and it has been. Don’t let us lose sight though, of the fact that this happened because Mr. Castro is on the move, because Mr. Castro has been so anxious to get things done for his community. Let us not lose sight of the fact that the entire community seems to be squarely behind Mr. Castro and don’t really care about the environmental concerns. No responsible government can afford to proceed in that fashion and that is why Mr. Castro has reined himself in and has indicated that he will now try to get the requisite approvals from the requisite agency. But please, do not let us forget that what he has attempted to do is a wonderful thing for the people of the Belize Rural North constituency and that particular Crooked Tree area.”
