Men charged with burglary of pastor’s home

Story PictureAlso in court, the book was thrown at two men accused of burglarizing the home of Pastor Allan Kingston of Bermudian Landing. Twenty-eight year old Deon Brackett and twenty year old Herman Garbutt appeared in front of Magistrate Sharon Frazer and were charged for Burglary when they were caught red-handed with a passport belonging to Kingston’s wife, Diana. Both Brackett and Garbutt pleaded not guilty to the charge, and got bail of four thousand dollars each. The two accused are due back before the court on November twenty-third. The burglary occurred sometime between eight-thirty Sunday morning and one-thirty p.m. while the Kingstons were at church in the village. A neighbor, who witnessed the burglary in progress, contacted the police and upon reaching the Kingston house, the officers spotted the culprits and set chase after them as they ran into nearby bushes to elude them. But police tracked down the men and intercepted them at the Double Head Village bus stop. It is uncertain if the passport was the only item stolen from the Kingstons.
