A shooting foretold; Area Rep. said substation was undermanned

Francis Fonseca

The Belama Police Substation also came into public focus earlier this year when a store across the street was robbed and the assailants got away.  828 Super Center was robbed on January seventeenth, just days after it was reported by the police that the substation had been closed for repairs. During Friday’s debate P.U.P. Freetown Area Representative Francis Fonseca spoke about the need for more officers at the substation.

Francis Fonseca, Freetown Area Representative

“In Freetown Mister Speaker, the Belama Police Substation is on life support with one police officer manning a station, serving a community of over three thousand residents; no vehicle, no cycle. Contrast this with February 2008 when we left office. The substation was manned by three police officers, a vehicle and a motorcycle. One of the police officers stayed in the substation at all times; the other two patrolled the community twenty-four-seven. Mister Speaker, similarly, in area one; the old King’s Park Area, the police booth we opened at the corner of Lizarraga Avenue and gentle Avenue has been closed for two years. The substation in Belama, the booth on Lizarraga are important to the safety and security of Freetown residents Mister Speaker and I urge the Minister of Police and Public Safety to do everything possible to ensure that they are fully operationalized.”

I’m sure they won’t fix the problem for they have no love for the people of Belize. Since the thugs are being brave and robbing the law enforcement officers, they now need to be more brave and head towards the Barrow’s and let them feel what everyone else is feeling, only then they will hopefully do something about the hard core criminals that are taking over Belize. They need to start at the top to the ones that are oppressing them since their reason for doing all their crimes is that life is hard and they can’t find any jobs..start with the ones that are the reason for you can’t finding any jobs. Start with the ones that are pocketing all the money why your family is struggling and leave innocent people alone. Then again, thugs are nothing but coward leeches that prey on the weak and helpless. They lack basic common sense and logic so we should not expect anything better but to seek and destroy them. They tables need to turn but everyone looking at each other to see who will make the first move.

I wouldn’t doubt that Frances Fonseca Orchestrated everything to happen, who knows maybe he in one of the persons behind all the shooting in Belize City!!!
I don’t trust this man for NADA NADA

@ Spanglish, ever consider trying to be a part of the solution instead of pointing fingers and being a part of the problem. We are all Belizeans! Start acting like one and make positive suggestions instead of ridiculous accusations. Maybe you should go be a security guard for the service station, and then you can come and report back as to what the “real” situation is since you seem to know so much 😉

Maybe if the area rep, did not mentioned that the belama police station was being maned by one police officer then this incident would probably not have happened. the area rep gave the criminals opportunity to act on this poor officer. I also blame the police department because they know that havinf one police officer taking care of a sub station in Belize city is pure negligence on their part. there should have been no less than four police officers including an NCO incharge of that sub station. I hope they learnt a lesson from this and rectify the situation immediately. God bless the police officer I prayed that he pull through this without much difficulties.
