COLA’s Fundraiser for former fast food chain employees
HL’s, a well known burger joint in the past decade, has wound up and closed its locations around the old capital. There have been several former employees that have worked along with the company for many years and they have been unsuccessful in finding employment in these hard times. Some of them are single mothers and that compounds the need to provide for their children. And that’s where COLA steps in. According to Cola President, Moses Sulph, the advocacy group will be hosting a fundraising event on Saturday morning to help these single mothers.
Moses Sulph, COLA President, Raising Funds for Former HL’s Employees
“What we are having tomorrow is a barbecue. We’re trying to raise funds to assist the mothers who were laid off by HL’s because many of them still haven’t gotten a job. So far only one of them have been offered a job—well I was called earlier today by somebody from one of those meat companies and they wanted to offer a job to one of them. However, the other ones are still unemployed and very much still responsible to take care of their families because they are the breadwinners. So what we are doing tomorrow at the Belize Bank Parking Lot is we are having a barbecue sale to try raise some funds to see how we can assist them in starting their own little business. We have already identified a location. We have spoken to the person who owns that location who gives us to clear that as long as we can pay the land rent, they will allow us to put up a small structure there which they will be able to do business from there. So we are just asking you to kindly come out and support this barbecue sale. It starts at ten in the morning and finish at four. What we have is chicken at six dollars and the pork is at eight dollars and this comes with coleslaw and tortilla and bake beans noh. So I think it is a noble cause and I think at the time of the economy right now, it’s hard to get jobs so for people who want to help themselves, let us assist in trying to see how we can assist those persons.”
The barbecue will be held at the Belize Bank Parking lot.
Good job Bro! Keep it up! Cola d best.
