Juggling from Argentina to Belize
If you drove past stop lights at Cinderella Plaza or on Central American Boulevard this morning, you may have been wondering if the circus came to town. There were three men juggling each time the traffic lights turned red. The three men from Argentina are amateur jugglers, and they have been juggling for dollars, to fulfill their dream of travelling across the planet. News Five pulled up to the corner of Central American Boulevard and Mahogany Street and saw the welcomed but highly unusual sight below the traffic lights.
Diego Miguel, Juggler
“This is our way of living. We do this as a living; we go to the stop lights, we juggle, we do a little circus show and we ask for a contribution—sometimes we get some, sometimes we don’t, but it’s a way of living.”
Jose Sanchez
“You guys are from Argentina. How far do you plan to go with juggling?”
Pablo ‘Che’ Guevarra, Juggler
“I don’t know, maybe to Europe in the next two months. We have to save some money to go to there.”
Jose Sanchez
“So how would you describe yourselves? As jugglers, hippies? How do you describe yourself?
Pablo ‘Che’ Guevarra
“Workers and travelers.”
Diego Miguel
“A way of traveling. We also sell jewelry. We make this kind of stuff with our hands and we sell it. That’s the way to travel noh?”
Jose Sanchez
“So life’s a juggle.”
Pablo ‘Che’ Guevarra
“Kind of. Kind of.”
Diego Miguel
“We’ve been traveling from Argentina through land all the way to here.”
Jose Sanchez
“How long have you been doing this?”
Diego Miguel
“Three years now.”
Jose Sanchez
“So the next stop will be where?”
Diego Miguel
“Maybe back to México and then Europe. First time in a different continent.”
Jose Sanchez
“Last words?”
Pablo ‘Che’ Guevarra
“Thank you very much. [laughs]”
Diego Miguel
“I’m here in Belize, mom.”
The men said that some people gave them fruits as payment.
