Belizeans head for cayes despite foul weather
The rain fell steadily this morning, but that did not hamper residents and tourists alike from getting an early start on the Easter vacation. When we dropped in at the marine terminal on North Front Street this morning, business was brisk and the Caye Caulker Water Taxi Association says their entire fleet of twenty-seven boats was being utilized for their busiest time of year.
Romaldo Herrera, Operations Mgr., Caye Caulker Water Tax Assn.
“Actually, the weather hasn’t affected anything. In fact from yesterday we had almost seen an increase, almost twice the amount of traffic that we usually see here has increased already.”

“Have you all made any special provisions for the weather?”
Romaldo Herrera
“We have all boats are covered and the boats that are partly exposed we have tarpaulins and all these arrangements made to ensure that our passengers are not exposed openly to the elements.”
Kendra Griffith
“You all have an estimate as to how many people you all actually shuttle out to the cayes?”
Romaldo Herrera
“We have made necessary arrangements to try to get everybody out. The schedule has been modified and all our boats have been activated. All of them will be here by this evening to make sure that we ferry out everyone on time.”
Those boats service both Caye Caulker and San Pedro, Ambergris Caye.
