Suspects arrested in attack on restaurant owner
A seventy-three year old man was targeted as he arrived home Tuesday night and beaten by two men as he entered his yard on Bradley’s Crescent in the Belama Phase Two area. The owner of Subway, Ron Boetel, recounted how it happened.

“I got home about seven-fifteen and I usually close the door right away but I put my case down and put the water that I had brought for the Grocery on the counter. By time I got to the shelf right there, the futon, somebody ran up here, grabbed the door and he attacked me from the backside and started pounding on me. I thought maybe it was a friend just joking with me until they start pounding on me. And then they had me down on the futon and I was hollering for help and there was nobody around here. He was strangling me, that’s why I can’t talk very well, and keep beating me on my face. I evidently passed out and they took my cell phone, one credit card, the money I had in my wallet. When I woke up I was all full of blood and I went up to the front neighbours and they weren’t home so the man upstairs got me to call down to the police and we went to the police station right away.”
That prompt action was not in vain as police have arrested nineteen year old Talbert Mena of Vernon Street, along with a minor in connection with the attack. They have been charged with Aggravated Burglary, Aggravated Assault, and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery.
