Man shot while in front of his home, but lives
Following the murder of Hogbone, another shooting took place in the area. Twenty year old Jerome Lewis was injured to the upper arm. No suspects have been charged. Lewis was standing in front of his house on Fairweather Street when he was met by gunfire. The employee of Maya Island Air almost became the next murder statistic. Though his injuries were not severe, it is still alarming.

“Police responded to another shooting scene in Belize City, this time at the corner of Fairweather and Waight Street where they saw Jerome Lewis suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the right arm. Our initial investigation reveal that Jerome was out there socializing with some friends when a lone gunman wearing what appeared to be a shirt tied over his face, opened fire on them and he received that injury to his arm.”

i still oppose the bann of the tint in cars these killers don’t drive cars and shoot, they ride bicycles. so please revisit this issue they plan to bring in affect in june. who so ever is planning to change this tinting we live in a tropical country where the sun is really hot and tinting help alot.
They are allowing enough tint! 20% is fine. Either roll down the window or have AC. It will help to spot people and to see what is going on inside the vehicle when stopped by the Police. It will Protect the Police and help them do their job which most everyone is complaining about quite frequently. Sure they ride bikes. But they don’t smuggle kilos of cocaine and guns on bikes. Or bring in a van full of illegal workers/prostitutes. They use vehicles. Common sense!
Most of the shootings in Belize are done on bicycles which i would conider as been ride by and not drive by.As a result i don’t know what relevance the tint thing would have on the crime situation.What kills are weapons not tint..

What with only 4 inches of tint on your front windshield??? Not everybody that drive have 6 foot 5 inches or geese neck! For someone that is 5 foot 2 inches like myself the d@mn sun is right in my eyes with the 6 inch tint NOW what the H3LL you think will happen with only 4. How many people you think I will not be able to see on the side of the road because of the bright 5 p.m. sun in my eyes. I wear dark shades and it still doesn’t help. Next thing they’ll tell me I can’t wear dark shades because they can’t see my eyes to know if I might rob the bank. Obviously the wise NINNY who decided on that length either doesn’t drive or has a driver so he could care less.
Let’s not pretend we don’t know what is going on in this area. Wasn’t Teddy Murillo killed as he walked here? Trapp was killed in this area earlier this year, Gentle a block or two away, the Taxi driver was shot on Waight St., the teenager ran through this street trying to where he was killed on Kraal Rd last month & we have had a couple arson fires in the past year. Maybe this young man was not a part of the mess but just walking through here in broad daylight has proven deadly.

I know Mr Barrow is a different man from his Ministers and he doesnt make moves that compromise his legitimacy, but will these rules apply to ministerial rides? I know Barrow’s ride is see through even Musa’s was see through, but it always seems that the Ministers want to be bigger than the jefe and drive really dark tint rides. Also what about the basic common law that laws imposing criminal penalties should not have retro active effect? Maybe this new law can only be applied to people who tint after the commencement of the statutory instrument for it to be a intra vires/valid law. Otherwise it might be struck down because it is retroactive. I am sure some PUP lawyer has already thought of this and is formalising a case about it….Anyways I bet u alla di Minister was still skate bout inna dark tint ride.

i just want to see all those ministers’ land cruisers with 20% tint. They all have very dark tint, so they should be the first to change it
If we really want to get technical here, it is not even a gun, in and of itself, that kills people. It is the mischivious use of a gun by an individual that makes possible such a terrible act.
We all know that vehicles with tinted windows provide a secret location from which a criminal may ambush his unsuspecting victims.
Desperate times demands desperate measures . Dean Barrow has been catching hell, for not doing nearly enough to combat this tsunami of violent crimes smothering the Jewel. I figure he has to start somewhere. I am just saying…….secrecy is the domain of scoundrels and tinted windows provide such a domain. Get rid of the tinted windows!!

1) boosting up the prosecuting branch of the police….
2) truly equiping and training the people at the white elephant forensic lab..
3)training better police officers in investigative strategies, evidence and
intelligence gathering…
4) getting rid of the corrupt police officers that work in hand with the criminals….
5) paying “excellent” lawyers to serve as the prosecutors for high profile cases….
or simply making the life miserable of the known gang leaders that ride around the city as masters of the streets…. when EVERYBODY, including the police and government know they are the true masterminds of most of the killlings?????

Why we suppport such idiotic lame duck strategies incompetent politicians (RED and BLUE) push diown our throat…. did outlawing high calibre guns and bulte proof vest have any significant reduction in crime???? what can we expect from outlawing tints????
…. all we can expect is more diseases suffered by auto owners due to the inhalation of benzene gas (released due to UV decomposition of dashboards and automotive rubber….)

Have you heard the RESTORE BELIZE song lately, what happen to Min. Singh’s “Quality of Life” program where small offences would have been targeted. Remember this area was declared a SAFE ZONE.. we have no hope with this crowd, they are morally and intellectually bankrupt!!!!!!!!
