Suspect detained for murder of Avondale “Hogbone” Fuller
A few hours after the deadly shooting police detained a suspect whom they believed could assist them in their investigation. The murder of Avondale Fuller, despite increased police presence in the streets of Belize City, succeeds a series of retaliatory shootings in what is believed to be an ongoing gang rivalry. News Five spoke to Police Press Officer Sergeant Yearwood about the heightened alert on the streets.

“The person in custody is from one of their rival gangs. This person was in police custody. He was being questioned in connection with the murder of Enrique Trapp that occurred over the weekend. He was released from police custody yesterday sometime after eleven and by five o’clock; we had him back in custody in connection for questioning in the Avondale Fuller murder.”

“Avondale Fuller, he is regarded as someone big in the George Street Gang. Is the police on high alert? Are you expecting people to more vigilant in the areas these rival gangs operate?”

“Jose, not just since the Avondale Fuller murder, we have been on high alert for a while now and we will continue in this manner. You will be seeing more police in your streets. We will be conducting more stop and search; we will be searching more vehicles. It might slow down traffic, so we would like to encourage the working people and well I know school will be out by Friday to leave for work a little earlier in the event we must stop and search suspected criminals in the street that it wouldn’t affect you in your tardiness in arriving at your workplace. What I can tell you is that we have several operations that are being run in Belize City in our efforts in trying to address this crime situation.”

The suspect didn’t do it, ask his Motherm, I’m sure he was on his knees in front of his bed praying for peace in the streets& that the police stop harassing him.
