Businessman illegally employing his nephew
Also in court, Magistrate Kayla Teck had to determine whether thirty-nine year old Mukesh Makhwani was illegally employing his nephew, twenty-three year old Indra Kumar Vaswani. Both men were charged back in February when Immigration personnel asked Vaswani to present his documents and he retrieved them from Makhwani’s warehouse on Amara Avenue. It was believed that he was employed at the warehouse because he had the keys to the building and no one else was present. Since he came to Belize on a permit to work as a sales person at Extra House, Vaswani was charged with Failure to Comply with the Conditions Subject to Which an Employment Permit has been Granted.
Makhwani was also charged, but for Employing a Person without a Working Permit. The trial was set to start today, but the two relatives left the court happy after they were informed by Magistrate Teck that the charges were dismissed due to a lack of evidence. Makhwani says that from the day they were detained, he tried to explain that his nephew was only staying at his house because he was unemployed and had nowhere else to go. In their first court appearance, Vaswani told the court that he left his job at Extra House due to unpaid salaries. He was advised to file a civil suit on that matter.
How much did it cost to make this one go away?
Even they think Belizeans are stupid, and ignorant. Makhwani nephew went to Belize to work for his uncle, plain and simple. Deport all of them; see if I give a $#!%.
Yea, this person works for them!
What they do is pay them like 10.00 per week and balance goes to the family in India or where they r from. i worked for them trust me they HIRE them.
And NONE of who they hire is to clean nor price items they are all for Cashiering and supervising seems that belizeans are not good enough or trustworthy.
And the immigration ppl knows this very well! thats another issue Belize needs to look into because some do have work permit how can Immigration/Labor issue work permits for cashiers???
You need to look more into EXTRA HOUSE’s owners and the employees they have at their stores and warehouses. slave labour.
