Belmopan’s Daniel Aguirre wins KTV Latino 2011
Across the country and among the Belizean Diaspora abroad, thousands were glued to their television sets for the grand finale of KTV Latino Season Two—the most popular local entertainment on Tuesday nights. The packed show opened with a presentation from the sensational Ismael Chacon, the first KTV Latino champ and the audience was held captive throughout the evening by the performances of this season’s four finalists and the judges as well as favorites from season one. Then came the announcement, the man of the hour was overjoyed and confident. News Five’s Andrea Polanco was the Bliss on closing night.

Minutes after he was named the 2011 KTV Latino Champion, an ecstatic Daniel Aguirre, told us that while the journey was hard, he knew he would’ve walked away with the title:

“It feels good, it would feel the same in second or third , coming in the competition was hard but I worked hard for this so I think I deserve.”

“Did you expect this win?”

“Yes I did, I felt I was a champion from the start because the people of Belize have always been behind me.”
As overjoyed as Aguirre, for the other three finalists the emotions were high and mixed before the announcements were made:

“Before performing I really was feeling nervous, but now it stop.”

“Well I am feeling very happy, very contented, I want to thank everyone for their support and I’m happy I made it to the end.”

“The best feeling I express right now is joy, I am happy to be once more on stage, and I just want to give my public all the love.”
And that love and support helped them, because the finalists said that the road to KTV Latino finals was rough but a rewarding experience:

“Well it has been fun, stress, and also frustration because finding the song and also really to be out there and finding the people to give you their support or ask them for their support as being money. Asking them to vote for you and also to sponsors .”

“Well for me it was a pretty nice experience, hard, every step that I took was a challenge for me but I thank the public that I made it so far.”

“Every week was a challenge. Week in, week out the nerves, the joy, the breakdowns, the sadness, it’s a rollercoaster of emotions.”
And as the emotions culminated last night, it was one of joy as the finalists are already embarking on new projects, an opportunity provided by KTV Latino:

“Javier has asked me to do an album with him so that‘s much of something that is coming.”

“Well definitely I do… as a matter of fact I have been getting orders already people have been calling me to go sing at different places.”

“My plans are to continue in music, as a matter of fact, I am writing my own songs, just today finished writing a Bachata and I hope that everybody likes it.”
While their plans are to continue with music, the finalists said they have grown and learned valuable lessons during their journey:

“Well I learned that you should never give up. I learned that you just get up and come stronger every time.”
Sarita Obando
“Facing the crowd, that’s something that I really broke from me because first I couldn’t stand on a stage.”
Javier Castillo
“Well I learnt a lot of things, I lost the nervousness because at first it was hard but after a while I let go of the nerves.”
And letting go of some of those obstacles, KTV Latino Champion, Daniel, said he beat out the odds and it has definitely paid off:

“I have overcome a lot in the competition since it started. At first I used to feel like I was in one corner but now people are recognizing me. Starting from the 6th of May I will be across the country from Orange Walk, to San Ignacio to Belmopan, around the country performing. Tomorrow we’re going to be in Belmopan we’re going to be celebrating, we’ll have a parade through the main streets of Belmopan and uh we’re going to make this big tomorrow.”

“So tomorrow that mean you wont be driving your taxi as regular, it’s going to be big celebration?”
Daniel Aguirre
“Tomorrow there aren’t going to be any taxis tomorrow in Belmopan, all cab drivers gonna be behind us in a big parade. That’s a guarantee.”

“What will you do with the ten thousand dollars?”
Daniel Aguirre
“Well first I will build my house and with the rest of the money I will buy a karaoke machine and continue to sing for the rest of my life, because I love singing.”
Season two ended with a bang, but can it get any bigger? You bet! Last night our new champion put out a challenge to last year’s winner, Ismael Chacon:

“Well 2010 is gone, this is 2011. And of course, I feel like I am the better of the two of the two of us and to know that we’re both from Belmopan I feel like I have something over him that he doesn’t have. Right now as we’re speaking, I challenge him this number one prize again, knowing that he had number one before, to see who is the winner of this ten grand and I can bet him whatever he wants.”

Well, we don’t know what the response will be from Chacon, but we’ll surely find out the answer to the challenge.
I believe Daniel is being very arrogant and truth be told, he is no where close to Chacon…. Come on Daniel you wouldn’t have made it to the top four if had competed last year so please dont let this bit of fame get to your get… Plus rumours in Belmopan, as I am from there, is that you borrowed seven thousand dollars for votes… So maybe that is why you were confident… u knew u were gonna win cause you had invested he money not because u r the best… Sarita was very good and so was Javier and Carolina… If u want to make it in music, u have to humble urself!
Daniel is a great singer, no doubt, but lacks the most essential thing in life: HUMILITY. He has had a “gripe” with Ismael since 2010 KTV competition since, Daniel didn’t qualify at the auditions last year and Ismael did and it hurts him to see that Ismael Chacon is the first KTV Latino Champ.
I would hope Ismael accepts the challenge. Then again, I heard Ismael is doing shows in Central America and perhaps won’t have time for people who just learning to smell themselves. I recall Ismael even got a standing ovation from the judges and I’m sure Ismael got record votes.
Mr. Aguirre you should be thankful that this competition was not won by talent but by votes, remember the night Mr. Chacon won the public reaction was spontaneous unlike yours nobody went to congratulate you on the stage. Even though it was also by votes then he had the unrelenting support of the public from the beginning until the end. Please don’t make the terrible mistake of even suggesting a competition between you and him because we all know he will definitely be the winner by votes and talent!!!! it would do you good to learn from him a little bit of his humbleness. Don’t praise yourself let others do it!!!
PS. not everybody is happy with the results.. Carolina deserved first , Javier Second, Sarita third and you fourth.
aguirre as a winner he should had humble himself to level with the rest of contestants but he made the mistake of glorifying himself which can cost him popularity in the future on the other hand chacon was more humble and to me he’s the best of the two champs. now personally i wanted sarita to win lets give the ladies a break guys i love how she sings and formost is the worthy cause she was doing it.congrats to all the four.

I have not seen her since I lived in Ranza back in 2005 with my cousin..my eyes are watering right now thinking about our friendship and loss of contact. She was living on the hilltop in Santa Elena with Nato Guapo & Fita Bonita. i must say there will never be another chacon.he is the best.how humble,kind, and he went out of his way to makes me and my friends feel welcome with the help of the owner la cabana. i will allway have a big smile on my face when eva i remember how mr.chacon and the owner and staff of cabana party with us on my visit to belmopan.hope the best for mike and family .may god help u in this trouble times.rose in la,

Johanna, people have a right to their opinion. If your uncle Daniel was humble, no one would hate on him.
