An Easter Message from Canon Flowers

LeRoy Flowers

Where will you be going to spend your Easter holiday? While many will use the time to delve into the beaches and bask in the sun with umbrella garnished drinks, the meaning of the holiday can be easily white washed in the seasonal heat.  That’s why this morning News Five Spoke to Canon LeRoy Flowers of the Anglican Mission who shared a few words on the meaning of Easter.

Canon LeRoy Flowers, Anglican Mission

“Let me wish all at Channel Five and the entire nation a very blessed and peaceful Easter. Easter is a time of hope, a time of light and love over darkness and bitterness. Easter is a time when God proved that he really loved man in every form. So not only did Christ die, but he rose triumphant. If he did not raise Christ from the dead, Jesus would have simply been another dead prophet. But the fact is that as God, he proved how much he loved man. That Christ did not only die but rose triumphant to give us a new sense of hope, to reconcile us to him and to reconcile us to each other. And so I trust that at this Eastertide, all Christians everywhere will make a gallant effort to fulfill the promises of God revealed in Jesus Christ in the empty tomb.”

Now, all I can do is to hope that the weekend was devoid of a blood-bath, replaced by love, which is no doubt the vehicle needed to get back to humanity.

  2. weary says:

the bloodbath didn’t come. one stabbing that was fatal and one stabbing that wasn’t in the city. other than that. one non fatal shooting in orange walk. it was a good weekend.
