Convicted child molester sentenced to 20 years behind bars
A convicted child molester has been sentenced to spend the next twenty years behind bars. According to court reports, when thirty-two year old Raul Rivero appeared before Justice Herbert Lord today, the judge said he took into account Rivero’s sixteen previous convictions and the fact that he has not shown any remorse for what he did. On February eighteenth, a jury found the Benque Viejo resident guilty of the carnal knowledge of a ten year old girl. The victim, now twelve, took the stand during trial to testify that around six in the morning on August seventh 2005, she went to use the outhouse when Rivero pushed her inside, taped her mouth, tied her hands and then had sex with her. Rivero had refuted the charge, claiming he was playing basketball with friends at the time of the attack. The maximum penalty for carnal knowledge is life imprisonment.
