Haitian national claims police intimidated him

While that former cop is accused of stealing chains from ordinary citizens, two Haitian nationals are claiming that the cops are stealing their peace of mind. Earlier today Veronique Stile and her brother Samuel Felix visited our studios because they claim the police not only raided his apartment, they also intimidated him and told him they would come back later for him. Felix says he has never committed a crime but fears his life is in danger.

“This morning when me wake up, my sistah just call me. When me going to me sistah. But somebody call me, say lotta police at my house. I said why. Somebody said come out. When I come out by the Chiney, I see two truck police, lotta police. But when me stand up I drink mi coffee. The police man see me and just watch me, then I ask lady weh happen. I see somebody show police me and said he wah come back lata.”

“So do you feel that that was a threat—that they may come back to harm you sometime tonight or afterwards?”

“When me see policeman, I just stand up and watch police car and ih watch me and say what, I will come back later. I noh know why.”

“My brother is not illegal. All Haitian I know, my brother and my family, I bring my brother to Belize. I don’t know why Haitians jealous bout my brother. I don’t know. I don’t know why. But I come to send message to police: you have to look; you have to know everything exactly. Somebody when you don’t know and a man tell you Veronique do me something, you just need to beat up me, kill me. But you have to know, you have to show. But I know my brother noh have problem, no have nothing. If my brother wants something, I work hard—lotta people know me here in Belize—I work hard. So if one Haitian have problem or jealous bout my brother—you send police or you send anybody—but later I see the people from the truck police show my brother like this. If you wanna hurt my brother, you hurt me first, but I noh fraid nothing. But noh do my brother—nothing happen bad for my brother.”
