Oil leak at fuel depot near Fort Street Tourism Village
Today was another bustling cruise ship day in the tourism zone on North Front Street. While tourists were soaking up the street culture, the Belize Port Authority, the Department of Environment and the Fort Street Tourism Village were assessing the damage of an oil leak near the village. According to reports, a fuel pipe broke at the filling pump for marine vessels and the quantity of oil leaked has not yet been determined. While on the scene our crew noted the presence of a fire truck parked in front of one of the Village’s terminals, however, it seemed as though it was business as usual at the site. News Five attempted to speak to the Operations Manager for the Tourism Village for comment but our calls have not been returned.
