Latest Lotto winner yet to claim prize; previous winner does well
Someone out there has a piece of paper that’s worth ninety five thousand dollars and may not know it. He or she hit all five numbers in last Wednesday night’s Lotto draw but has yet to claim the prize. Those numbers drawn were: 09,12,18,19, and 33. Holding on to a winning ticket for a few days or even a week is not unusual and it is expected that a winner will soon show. But when the big cheque is presented will the lucky person know how to handle it? News Five caught up today with one past Lotto winner, former Jesuit priest and educator, Charlie Woods. In November of 2004, he took home a prize pot worth ninety-seven thousand, five hundred dollars. He says the money came in handy to pay a large funeral bill for a close relative in the U.S. but three years later, he still has a sizable portion left because of wise spending. Woods has some sound advice for the current and future winners or anyone who inherits a large amount of cash.
Charles Woods, Past Lotto Winner
“My sister died one month later everything just happened correctly. The money was available and other friends I had, we needed some things for Christmas like a refrigerator, washing machine and all that came in. I like to give when I have it to people less fortunate than myself and especially when I have real loyal and truthful friends. They will share in my bounty.”
“After your euphoria is done then before you start to spend make a list of where you will spend it, to whom you will give and you can’t give everybody because all of a sudden you’ll have all kinda people coming out of the woodwork claiming they are relatives or friends or something. But make your plan.”
The seventy-seven year old Woods says he still tries his luck on the lotto and believes in the proverb that lightning can strike the same place twice. Meanwhile, the jackpot for tomorrow night stands at fifty-two thousand, five hundred dollars.
