Cordel and Mark’s Gospel to be heard in the P.U.P. once more

Mark Espat

In news of a political nature, are Mark Espat and Cordel Hyde back in the P.U.P. graces? There is word that the executive of the People’s United Party will be meeting this Wednesday to decide on some major changes in the hierarchy of the party. The executive is being asked to consider the re-instatement of area representatives from the Albert and Lake I, Mark Espat and Cordel Hyde as deputy party leaders. Both were absent from the National Convention last October in Dangriga and were therefore not re-elected to the posts. They were also a no-show at the budget debate in the House in March and have been inactive in internal party politics but with municipal and general elections looming, they are now seeking to get back into the executive.

The wheeling and dealing has been taking place for days and from the look of things, while the discussions may be dramatic, there is no major opposition to welcome them into the fold. The mechanics of it, however, have to be ironed out since it would mean having to increase the number of deputy party leaders from four to five and doing so outside of a convention. Notably, both Espat and Hyde have not held divisional conventions, but these are contemplated in the coming months. According to one source, in the interest of party unity, executive members are expected to go with the flow.

Save your speeches your leadership should not be defined by them, great leaders bring parties together for better results, not separate them.

They should not be allowed entry just like that! They do not deserve the easy way in. They should have to work up the ranks again and after elections if the party wins. Let the people of the party decide by voting!

Since 2004 these guys have been disobedient disrespectful & self rigthous. Along with Amandala cleverly trying to divide and conquer. SInce then they have continue the pattern of an open book. I don’t see them changing their pattern but people do change. IF they really have Belize in their hearth they will join Briceno the new leader of the party and go ALL OUT and rid us of these bunch of loosers that are governing us now.
