Police have new suspect in O.W. double murder …
Orange Walk police have made some inroads into last week’s double murder of Jose Ricalde and Nazim Romero. Investigators had initially fingered eighteen year old Luis Cardenas as a prime suspect but at a press conference this afternoon, Senior Superintendent Robert Mariano says new evidence is now pointing in an entirely different direction.
Sr. Supt. Robert Mariano, O.C., Orange Walk
“We have one person detained and the person is being questioned and most likely there’ll be two other persons that the police may be looking for in the near future for which we believe might have answers in relation to the shooting. It appears that other persons from Belize City are involved. We have a some witnesses or a witness who have come forward who have given us some information which we believe will assist us.”
“Police are also looking for two other persons from Orange Walk who could also give us some information; that is one Reynaldo Marchand and Alfredo Urbina. The police is looking for them. The incident had occurred at Urbina’s residence here in Orange Walk Town but the police is looking for Urbina because it is believed that he had incited some problem, hence why the shooting occurred at his house. The case is drug related. The investigation of course, we have not confirmed so far and that it appears that drugs were stolen or he had received drugs and he refused to pay for the drugs and that’s what caused the whole chaos”
While police have taken the focus off Luis Cardenas, cops believe he did play a role in the double murders. Also in police custody tonight is a woman who investigators believe is intimately involved with their prime suspect. Police also continue to look for Alden Hall who went missing the day before the double murders occurred. Hall is a friend of Cardenas.
