Police constable interdicted following bribery sting
A police constable from the Traffic Section has been interdicted from duty and placed on half pay following a charge of Prejudice to Good Order and Discipline.
The case against P.C. Elroy Sanchez is in connection with a complaint by a motorcyclist who reported to the Internal Affairs Unit that last week Sanchez solicited one hundred dollars from him for a traffic violation that he committed. The two agreed that the cyclist would call Sanchez when he had the money to pay. Police set up the rendezvous for Wednesday morning and marked two fifty dollar bills which they gave to the complainant to pay Sanchez. When Sanchez showed up and collected the money, police closed in and recovered the marked bills. Sanchez appeared before a police tribunal today where he pleaded not guilty to the charge. His case was adjourned until February twenty-seventh.
