Kenroy Young, former U.N. Youth Ambassador, currently convicted burglar

Kenroy Young

Kenroy Young was once the UN Youth Ambassador, but he is also distinguishing himself as a career criminal. Since 2008, he has been in court on several theft related charges and currently has a case of forgery pending in the Supreme Court. Today, the twenty-two year old added one more offense to his growing rap sheet when he pleaded guilty to Burglary. Young admitted to Magistrate Emerson Banner that on May thirteenth, he broke into the home of Josephine Flowers, the Vice Principal of Edward P. Yorke High School. A digital camera and a blank cheque were stolen from Flowers’ house and Young was given the maximum jail term of seven years. He filled out Flowers’ cheque for almost eight hundred dollars and attempted to cash it at Heritage Bank over the weekend. When he was unsuccessful, Young tried again at Public’s Supermarket on the Northern Highway and that’s where police nabbed him. Flowers told our court reporter today that Young was friends with her niece, who had a key to the house. It is believed that he managed to make a copy of that key and has stolen several items, including jewelry and ATM cards over time. Those items were recovered when police detained Young over the weekend. He will also spend an additional two years behind bars for defaulting on a two thousand dollar fine that was imposed back in January when he was convicted of Handling Stolen Goods. That charge was in connection with a burglary at Wesley Pre-school.
