Maya Belize Recycling Company employees busted for possession of copper
Today three members of the top level management of the Maya Belize Recycling Company were before to the courts to answer to criminal and immigration charges. Manager of the company, thirty five year old Juan Carlos Cuellar, along with director, thirty four year old Wilfredo Cocom and Supervisor Lina Lino were jointly charged with four counts each of employing a person not in possession of an employment permit. The incident occurred on the seventeenth of May, at mile eight on the Western Highway in which the employed Salvadoran national
Leonardo Varenga was not in possession of an employment permit, along with Ghana national Ambroise Yalley, and Honduran nationals Mario Ernesto Ysaguirre and Erwin Ruiz.
Lino and Cuellar were jointly charged with two counts of possession of prohibited material.
On that same date they were found in possession of scrap metal totaling to nine hundred and sixty three pounds of raw material made of copper and seven hundred and fifty five pounds of wire materials substantially made of aluminum The prosecution objected to bail in court because Cuellar and Lino are considered to be flight risks because they’re Colombian nationals. Their Attorney Elston Kaseke submitted that bail is a right not a privilege, and as a result all three were granted ten thousand dollars bail each or two sureties of the same amount.
I hope this was not the same crowd suspected in the theft of copper & fiber optics that caused the problems a few days ago because if they are, it is time to kick Elston out as well. I don’t believe that the bail amount if they skip will cover the cost of the damage. Why do we continue to attract criminals from all over the world who continue to pillage our country & show no regard for our people?
This is how the government rob Belizeans by hiring foreigners, Maya Belize recycling company, all the higher up new well that over the pass few days copper from both BEL and BTL where going missing but still they ended of obtaining these materials rather than informing the police, guess they thought they would have gotten away with it. If recycling company is privatize then the owner have no love for Belizean because i know many trusted Belizeans that can hold these position unfortunately Cocom is not one of them. Well they’ve committed a crime and serve their time in Bze, deportation…
Bail been a right doesn’t change the fact that your clients are a flight risk Elston as a result they still shouldn’t be given bail on the grounds that they are not Belizean Nationals.I am not an attorney however i read enough to know that bail is usually denied on two grounds.(1) If you’re a flight risk and (2) If you’re consider a threat to the public. With that said who is taking care of the finance for bailing these people? The average Belizean can’t even find a thousand dollars to meet bail. These people must be some good workers.
Big business. And they employ foreigners illegally. HMMM? SO much for the honest living.
I think they have too much to lose to flee from this though. Maybe not. But to employ three people even cheap illegal labor costs. I see Trickie Dickie Bradley in the near future on this one.
You all are also responsible for many residential house “wiring” theft as well. I’m still feeling it for the lost of my wiring for over a year now.
