Human trafficking again; Immigration Department center of scandal

There is credible information that two Chinese nationals are being held in connection with a stash of passports that have been confiscated. The two men, one allegedly from Caye Caulker and the other from Belize City, were found with the documents on Tuesday and were being processed in Belmopan this afternoon. Charges of Human Trafficking are being contemplated. The Police Department is not providing any details on the matter and the press officer is only saying that that it is an immigration matter. From what we know, the twenty-nine passports were found on the men on Tuesday as they traveled to the Capital. The report follows an exposé by News Five last year involving a smuggling ring that was busted that brought Chinese nationals to Belize through Haiti, Cuba and Ecuador with questionable Belize visas.  Since News Five broke that story the route visas are no longer being processed in Havana, Cuba and the Director of Immigration was transferred to another Ministry. The Prime Minister announced that a Chinese businessman would be arrested but only low level Immigration Officers attached to the Phillip Goldson International Airport have been charged. And while very little came out of that scandal, it is known that both the United States and Cuba, have requested a dossier on certain individuals. In the same vein, four other Chinese Nationals are reportedly also in custody after police detected they had entered the country illegally through a major border entry.

Immigration matter my foot! This is a national security matter! Plain and simple and this has serious implications for us and the international community! Let us not pretend! This is very very serious. At least for someone who has been looking at the geopolitical map. I assume that the higher echelons in the government would be doing the same!?!

DRAMA; You need to stop worrying about the United states protection, They were able to get into Pakistan and out without them having any knowledge that the US`was carrying out the assasination of Bin Laden. If they were able to get into Pakistan, surely Belize is a piece of cake.
