Dangriga cop wins lotto
Vivian Castillo, a police sergeant attached to the Dangriga Formation, is the latest Lotto winner. Castillo, who has been taking a chance on tickets since the inception of the game, struck gold on Wednesday when the slip she purchased prior to the draw contained the winning numbers. At the time she bought the ticket the Lotto Jackpot stood at seventy-five thousand dollars, a hefty sum which she plans to use on finishing the construction of her mother’s house. Castillo told News Five this afternoon how she went about buying the lucky numbers.
Vivian Castillo, Lotto Winner
“It was a quick pick.”
Isani Cayetano
“How long have you been playing Lotto?”
Vivian Castillo
“Since it began, off and on.”
Isani Cayetano
“So you’ve invested quite a number of years and a number of money into chasing behind the dream. How does it feel now that you’ve actually won significantly?”
Vivian Castillo
“Words cannot express [how I feel]. I felt overwhelmed when I heard my numbers play.”
Isani Cayetano
“Your first reaction?”
Vivian Castillo
“I won!”
Isani Cayetano
“[Were you] jumping around screaming, showing everybody the winning ticket? What was that like?”
Vivian Castillo
“I have two rooms. I ran from one room to the next right because my husband was in the other room and I ran from one room to the other and I told I said “bwai I think I got the Lotto” and he told me “gial noh play wid me early da morning” because it was about six o’clock. I said “serious I got the Lotto.”
Isani Cayetano
“What has it been [like] since? I mean your family and your friends now know that you are the lucky winner. What has been their reaction knowing that you came up big this time around?”
Vivian Castillo
“I’m tired of answering phone calls, very tired. But my family will enjoy the best of it all so…”
Isani Cayetano
“Which brings me to asking you what do you plan to do with the money?”
Vivian Castillo
“My mom’s house is under construction at this time. It doesn’t even have a roof as yet so I will help her with that and do some minor renovation on mine and then I will put up the rest and then my husband and I will decide on what I will do with the rest.”
After taxes Vivian Castillo took a total of sixty-three thousand, seven hundred and fifty dollars home to Dangriga. But the other game in town is the Mega Bingo, which this Saturday will be playing for a jackpot of one hundred and ninety seven thousand dollars plus. Stay tuned for the live draw at eight- thirty in the evening when viewers will also have the opportunity to win cash prizes by calling this station.
