Election stats show massive shift

If the numbers came in too late last night for you to accurately do the math, what follows is the list of results from the thirty-one constituencies. All but a handful are official, as some races have not yet been blessed by the Chief Elections Officer.

In his Queen’s Square constituency, U.D.P. Leader Dean Barrow garnered 2089 votes, crushing the P.U.P.’s Anthony Sylvestre Jr.’s 646.

In the north, the U.D.P.’s Pablo Marin won his Corozal Bay seat comfortably with 2467 votes, beating P.U.P. incumbent Vildo Marin’s 1,657.

The unofficial tally in Corozal North has Nemencio Acosta with 2525 votes for the U.D.P., while P.U.P.’s Valdemar Castillo picked up 2076.

Gabriel Martinez kept Corozal South West in the red with 2538. His opponent Greg Garcia received 1813.

U.D.P. Deputy Party Leader Gaspar Vega delivered for his party with 3087 votes, while the P.U.P. incumbent Servulo Baeza went home with 2226.

In Orange Walk East, the U.D.P.’s Marcel Cardona got fifty-four percent of the votes or 2481. The P.U.P.’s Marco Mendez received 2013.

Marco Pech was declared the winner in the Orange Walk South when his tally of 2529 surpassed the P.U.P.’s Jose Mai, who kept it close with 2377.

In Belize Rural North, U.D.P. candidate Edmund Castro bulldozed P.U.P. Earl Perez with 2382 votes to 1313 for Perez.

Michael Hutchinson pulled a huge upset over P.U.P. incumbent Ralph Fonseca in Belize Rural Central. Hutchinson received 1963 votes, while Fonseca came up short with 1788.

The U.D.P.’s Manuel Heredia Jr. won sixty-two percent of the votes in Belize Rural South with 2488, out beating the P.U.P.’s Murlene Spain with 1464.

In the city, Carlos Perdomo delivered for the U.D.P. in Caribbean Shores with 2195 votes, unseating incumbent P.U.P. Jose Coye, who came up with only 1134.

The U.D.P.’s Wilfred “Sedi” Elrington took his Pickstock seat with 1336 votes, to Godfrey Smith’s 1004.

Voters kept Mesopotamia red, giving Michael Finnegan a total of 1653 votes. The P.U.P.’s Austin Waight was only able to muster 476.

Patrick Faber also remained in his Collet division with 1596 red “x’s”. Carolyn Trench Sandiford picked up 1088 for the blue.

With 1949 votes, the U.D.P.’s Anthony “Boots” Martinez got three times the votes of his Port Loyola rival Oscar Rosado, who managed only 554.

Moving west to the Cayo district, voter placed the U.D.P.’s Salvador Fernandez back in Cayo North, giving him 2540 votes. The P.U.P.’s Otto Coleman received 1385.

John Saldivar was declared the winner in the Belmopan constituency after he received 2539 votes, compared to 1613 by Rolando Zetina of the People’s United Party.

The U.D.P.’s Erwin Contreras also won in Cayo West with 2771 votes to1652 for the P.U.P.’s Kendal Mendez.

In Cayo Central, Rene Montero was seeing red with sixty-two percent of the votes, topping Mario Castellanos, who lost with 1596 compared to Montero’s 2890.

Ramon Witz of the U.D.P. received 2379 of the Cayo South votes, beating Charles Galvez of the P.U.P., who’s tally came in at 1859.

In Cayo North East, the unofficial count has Elvin Penner of the U.D.P. winning his seat with 1940 votes. The P.U.P.’s Orlando Habet came in at 1493.

In the Culture Capital Dangriga, Arthur Roches delivered for the U.D.P. with 2098 votes to 1531 for Cassian Nunez of the P.U.P..

Stann Creek West also went red with Melvin Hulse unseating the P.U.P.’s Rodwell Ferguson. Hulse’s total was 3192, while Ferguson received 2368.

The red tide continued in the Toledo District, with Peter Eden Martinez winning in the East with 2045 votes over Mike Espat’s 1640 and Juan Coy delivering the West with 2711 ballots to Marcial Mes’s 1572.

The P.U.P. managed six seats with Party Leader Said Musa squeezing out the U.D.P.’s George Gough to retain Fort George 1286 to 928.

With 1485 votes, Mark Espat won his Albert division with a comfortable lead over the U.D.P.’s Tom Morrison, who picked up 849 ballots.

In the Freetown division, P.U.P. incumbent Francis Fonseca edged out Michael Peyrefitte by only 16 votes. Fonseca took 1369, while Peyrefitte had to settle for 1353.

Lake I remained in the blue with voters giving Cordel Hyde 1998 votes and the U.D.P.’s Vandley Jenkins 1619.

One of the P.U.P.’s six seats came from the Orange Walk Central where Johnny Briceno took 2562 of the votes to beat Rosendo Urbina, who received 2252.

A tight race in Corozal South East ended with Florencio Marin Junior being declared the winner over U.D.P.’s Servando Samos, 2452 votes to 2436.
