Police remind voters of ban on guns, booze

The Police Department is reminding voters and party activists of the rules regarding guns and liquor on election day. In a press release they state that it is illegal to even carry a firearm or ammunition within one hundred yards of any polling or counting station. This prohibition extends from the time the polls open—seven a.m.—until the completion of the counting process—which may run well into the wee hours of the next morning. At the same time it is illegal for any establishment to sell alcoholic beverages while the polls are open—that is until six p.m. And just in case you were planning to stock the fridge with beer, the police remind both winners and losers that they will be enforcing the laws against public drinking.
