Arsonist unfit to stand trial
Also in court, a man accused of setting a fire in January 2008, that almost gutted his sister’s home was found unfit to stand trial. Shortly before midday, a jury of seven women and two men, who had deliberated for less than thirty minutes, found that thirty-six year old Ernest Billary could not stand trial due to insanity. Their decision was reached after a doctor, Emelio Molina, testified in court about Billary’s state of mind. He said Billary was suffering from “Chronic Psychotic Disorder”, and would not be able to follow evidence in trial. On January twenty-seventh, 2008, Billary ignited a fire at the home of his sister, Dawn, located on Hibiscus Street that caused damages to the interior of the concrete bungalow house.
