Kraal Rd. F.C. blanks Barrio Fino 5-0
Good evening I’m James Adderley and you’ve just stepped into this portion we call Sports Monday.
Dr. Bertie Chimilio, in his capacity as President of the Football Federation of Belize, continues to execute his plan to stage Belize’s World Cup Qualifying home match on February sixth against St. Kitts and Nevis inside Guatemala, a country that lays claim to our territory. On Tuesday the national football team of Belize came up with a 3-1 win and on Friday a 1-1 draw in two preparatory matches at Peten Guatemala. After Friday’s out they packed their gear and headed to Guatemala City for Wednesday’s FIFA match inside the Mateo Flores Stadium. This is such a sorry situation, Belizeans, and we all have to shoulder some blame because as a nation we don’t seem to pay attention.
Meanwhile people the B.P.F.L. was forced to postpone its back match fixture of week twelve as result of the movements of the national football team, but things are expected back to normal this coming weekend when week twelve is finally staged. On Saturday Santels will host F.C. Belize who needs a draw to cement their playoff grip. And Georgetown Ibayani will get a visit from Wagiya of Dangriga. Wagiya must win to make the four team playoffs. On Sunday the San Pedro Dolphins must win against Revolutionary Conquerors out at the island to keep its mathematical chance alive while the B.D.F. and Hankook Verdes will meet in a clash of teams already into the playoffs.
In Super League of Belize football news we caught up with Saturday’s M.C.C. showdown where Forever Strong Kraal Road played host to Barrio Fino. However, it certainly looked as the visitors would strike first blood when Kraal Road keeper Peter Anderson misplays this center but Andre Logan lets him off the hook. Kraal Roads response is immediate and only the timely intervention of Barrio’s goalkeeper keeps this Lorenzo Diaz’s strike from impressing the scoreboard. Barrio Fino comes right back with this cruel launch from off the boots of Cordel Montejo but the screamer rises a bit. You know we’ve got a good one going people when on the next possession Leon Jones fires this bomb that forces Barrio’s keepers into a flying save. Okay, we’re still only eighteen minutes in when Raymond Gentle slams the crossbar with this left foot, Leon Jones then leads it home to give the city team a 1-zip lead. Fourteen minutes later, Raymond Gentle sets table for Jack Dennison and just like that it’s a 2-nil Kraal Road lead. Now watch that wildly veteran Norman “Tilliman” Nunez get the pill to Leon Jones but this time the striker fails to deliver in two tries. Minutes before the half expires Jones made amends and he gets his second goal to Forever Strong a commanding 3-zip lead. The demise of Barrio Fino continues to slide when Tilliman sets up Raymond Gentle at the fortieth minute as Forever Strong takes a 4-zip lead into intermission.
In the second half Norman Ellington tries to get Barrio Fino onto the scoreboard with this spot kick but Anderson would have none of that. Folks it’s indeed a beaten Barrio Fino team when out and seconds this spot kick from Norman “Tilliman” Nunez finds Edon “Yellowman” Rowley and Rowley’s header makes it a 5-zip big W for Kraal Road.
In other results from over the weekend; Benque D.C. United dropped Texmar Boys 3-1, Belmopan Bandits ran over Roots F.C. 2-1 and Alpha Barcelona blanked Estrellas F.C. by that very same score.
