Bicycle thief apprehended on Cran Street
Police were in the right place at the right time on Wednesday night and apprehended a man shortly after he stole a bicycle. Twenty-nine year old Stackle Monsanto of Kraal Road was caught following the incident on Cran Street and has been charged with Theft. Police say they were on patrol around eight-thirty last night when twenty-two year old Lizany Cawich shouted to them for help. Cawich reported that she was at home when she heard a noise outside. When she peeped through her window she saw a tall man running out of her yard with her beach cruiser bike which had been parked behind her house. Police pursued the thief, caught him and retrieved the stolen bike, worth two hundred dollars. Monsanto is no stranger to the law. In 2007 he was shot four times by the proprietor of a shop at the corner of South Street and West Canal after he forced his way into the business and stole groceries, phone cards and coins.
