Gill Street gang member charged for prohibited weapon
A reputed member of the Gill Street Gang was arrested for Kept prohibited firearm and Kept unlicensed ammunition, but he is also being investigated and may be charged for the Murder of Mark Matura. When police responded to the scene of the fatal shooting on Friday, they were securing a three block area and noticed nineteen year old Raphael Usher speeding away on bicycle. Usher was intercepted and the cops found a sixteen gauge sawn-off shotgun tucked in his pants waist. One cartridge was loaded in the gun while another was found Usher’s pocket. According to police, the Gill Street gang is an affiliate of the George Street gang and Matura is believed to have been associated with the rival, Sunset Gang.
And on Saturday, a joint Police/BDF team found a cache of ammunition in the Jane Usher Boulevard area. Eighty-eight live five point five-six rounds were discovered under a concrete culvert, but no one was in the area at the time.
