Robbery suspect charged as victims come forward
If you or someone you know was robbed of jewelry in December, investigators are asking you to visit the Queen Street police station to view a number of pieces that were recovered following the arrest of a Belize City man. According to police, when twenty year old Dennis McKoy was detained on Saturday, several gold chains and bracelets were found in his possession which are all believed to be the proceeds of a number of robberies. At least three victims have already come forward to identify McKoy as the man responsible for the theft of their property but investigators believe there are many more out there. McKoy appeared before Chief Magistrate Margaret McKenzie today where he was formally charged with four counts of Robbery. He pled not guilty but because the robberies involved the use of a gun, no bail was offered to McKoy. According to court reports, two of the incidents took place in front of the Marion Jones Stadium and only netted the thief a hundred dollars. But Madisco employee Joel Young says McKoy is the gunman who robbed him of more than six thousand, three hundred dollars of company cash on December twenty-seventh. The accused has been remanded into custody until February twenty-eight.
