Meanwhile another man accused of Attempted Murder was free to leave the court today after the victim asked for the charge to be dropped. According to twenty-eight year old Elton Gordon, he hasn’t been threatened but he is afraid that something will happen to him if he testifies. On April thirteenth, Gordon was walking on Kraal Road when a lone gunman rode up to him. He tried to run away but was shot in the back. Following police investigations, twenty-one year old Ashley Hemsley was arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Grievous Harm and Use of Deadly Means of Harm. But following Gordon’s statement on the stand today, prosecutor Douglas Carr had no choice but to enter a nolle prosequi in the case.
