Sexual predators sentenced to 14 years in jail

They were convicted of depraved acts of violence against a child but today justice was meted out to Wilfred Gillett and Beverly Simpson. When the couple appeared before Justice Troadio Gonzalez this morning for sentencing, three friends and a family member spoke on their behalf. But following those mitigation pleas, Gonzalez sentenced Gillett to fourteen years for each of five counts of carnal knowledge and Simpson to the same jail time on five counts of Abetment. But before you run for your calculator it should be noted that the terms will run concurrently so each predator will only spend fourteen years in jail. Gillett and Simpson were undefended during the trial, which was prosecuted by Crown Counsel Douglas Carr. On January fifteenth the couple was convicted for acts that occurred at Simpson’s home in Port Loyola during April and May of 2006. According to the nine year old victim, Simpson, who was her babysitter at the time, held her down so Gillett could have sex with her.
