Belmopan couple busted for hydroponic weed
Just about anything you plant in Belizean soil is sure to grow but a British man growing marijuana inside his house has had his gardening career cut short by police. Apparently members of Belmopan’s Anti-Drug Unit had been monitoring the movements of Christopher Dunster for some time, after receiving reports that the sixty-one year old was selling marijuana in the capital city. Their investigations eventually led them to Dunster’s home in University Heights and in the attic officers found an entire indoor system dedicated to the hydroponic cultivation of cannabis. Cops say they only found a miniscule point eight grams of weed and four point two grams of seeds which lead them to suspect that Dunster had recently harvested and was preparing to plant another batch of the cash crop. He and his wife Edna were immediately arrested and charged with Cultivation of Cannabis and two counts of drug possession. Dunster decided to plead guilty and charges against his wife were withdrawn. The accused appeared in Belmopan’s Magistrate Court on Friday where he was fined three thousand dollars for his crimes.
