Cops seek duo in Dangriga armed robberies
A robbery at a Dangriga nightspot has left the bartender recovering from gunshot wounds. According to police reports, just after midnight on Saturday, thirty-one year old Lorenzo Sabal was manning the counter at the Foco Rojo Bar at mile three on the Stann Creek Valley Road when two men, armed with a handgun, held him up. Sabal retaliated by pulling out a machete. As he swung his weapon the blade hit the gun and as it hit the floor, it discharged. The bullet struck Sabal in his left leg and the thieves then made off with seventy dollars in cash. The injured man was rushed to the Southern Regional Hospital where he was treated for a flesh wound and released.
Investigators suspect that the men responsible for that robbery are the same two that held up a gas station on Sunday morning. According to police, seventeen year old attendant Jamir Flores was working at the Havana Street Esso branch when two assailants robbed him at gunpoint. This time the thieves scored three hundred and fifty dollars in cash and a gold chain. Dangriga police are now looking for a suspect to assist in their investigations.
