Salvadoran gang member arrested, sent home
The Police Department’s crackdown on gang activity has resulted in another member of the MS13 being deported. According to police reports, on December tenth, officers in Belize City arrested Salvadoran Jose Flores and charged him with the crime of Displaying a Gang Insignia. Flores pled guilty to the charge and was fined three hundred dollars. But when investigators checked with Interpol, they discovered that Flores was also wanted in El Salvador for five counts of Aggravated Assault. It appears that Flores, an illegal immigrant in the United States, was sent by U.S. officials back to El Salvador in 2007 and entered Belize during the first week of December. According to police, on Saturday morning Flores was put on a plane to El Salvador where he will stand trial.
