Suicide is reported, but grieving mother says murder

On Monday afternoon, the body of twenty-eight year old fireman, Gilbert Andrews was found suspended from a rope in his home in Benque Viejo del Carmen. But tonight his family is crying ‘foul play’ because they say a number of items including jewelry, cash, clothing and appliances are missing from his house. Anna Williams, Andrews’s mother, says that her son was last seen alive by co-workers at the BNE around five-thirty on Saturday morning. Williams says family members became alarmed when they didn’t hear from him. We spoke to his mother via phone, and she says she believe her son was robbed and killed.

“Probably when he gone een deh probably thief everything weh ih have thief values weh ih have, deh beat him to death and when deh done deh heng him up, tie ih two hand in front ah him and heng him up with a rope weh up pahn the beam. Way up pahn over the selotex side pahn the beam suh ih two hands tied in front ah him and deh put a drum deh like he suicide himself, suh deh say dat it’s suicide. But I can’t believe it because I feel like deh rob him and then after that deh killed him.”

“Suh what all missing from the house, Miss Anna?”

“Well he had a microwave because the white man say he just buy wah microwave last week fi ah. He had a coffee maker a new coffee maker, he had an electric pot and he had a big thick gold chain that the white guy give ah, he had an earring because he tell ah if he had a girl baby girl he could give him a gold earring, an esclava, two rings and different stuff and some ah ih clothes missing to.”

“What about cash? Any money was missing?”

“Yes, he had a thousand two hundred in his pocket but emm as the police, the police tell mi deh only find five dollars eena ih wallet. They even said that he write a note but it’s not compared to fi him hand writing that I have in one ah his books so I give them one of his handwriting in the book. No pen mi deh by the book anyway so I can’t believe that he write that.”

“Was he giving you or the family that he had any problems or so?”
Anna Williams
“Well he tell me that he had a problem with the girlfriend and she always di call him right and when he wah si the baby the girl nuh wah bring the baby.”

“So you don’t think that this family problem that he had would’ve caused him to take his life?”
Anna Williams
“No I don’t think so because he just come and he tell me this week yah Monday he come and say he get an award and they congratulate him that top the class in America and they were gonna have a little party or something fi ah at his work right so he feel so good he couldn’t believe it when they call him and tell him that. Suh I nuh think he shudda tek weh his life just cause ah one kid and one girl because he had anotha girl yuh understand.”

“Miss Anna he was already decomposing, the family was unable to determine if he had any external injuries, any wounds to his body?”

“Well rally he had blood pahn ih foot bottom but they say dah because he deh heng up there so long so that’s why the blood come from ih foot bottom but definitely I know they killed him and they heng him.”
Williams says that due to the advance state of decomposition of her son’s body, a post-mortem was never conducted.
for sure Gilbert never kill himself. I knew him from school days and he was always a loving person. Whenever I saw Gilbert on the street on his way home, I would ask him how and he always told me about his girlfriend and his baby. Never one day, I think Gilbert would do such thing. I believe that was a murder.

we god dame know that it was a murder, and that girl have to pay for what she did, she is stupid caz she had a good man and did not appreciate it and any woman would want a man like him , police should do a very good investigation on this murder and don’t let anything slip there eyes.!!!!!!!!!!!! who so ever did it should pay caz God does not like to see ugliness and who did it will know what God will do to them. we knew for a fact that he was a very hard working person and an honest man he surely did not deserve that!!!!!!

Gilly was a nice guy. The last couple times I see him he was HAPPY HAPPY! Man always have a smile! dont think he did that to himself!
Baby Romie and G will always love you Gilbert. People talk and criticize but don’t know anything. We were always together and will always be, forever. You will always be with us. ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!
