Gilharry says bus operators divided

Froylan Gilharry

When asked if he has sought the support of the Belizean Bus Association in his fight against the Ministry of Transport, Gilharry flatly stated that the association has been conquered and a culture of fear has disadvantaged some members from getting their fair share of the runs.

Froylan Gilharry, Owner, Gilharry Bus

“They are not people that you can depend on, you know, today they say one thing [and] tomorrow they do another.  I was in like four different meetings with them and in one meeting at Fisheries, you know, they really slapped the person who is helping them, like giving him a slap in the face the way they acted.  And lately after that I even saw one of the guys came out on the talk show saying how he’s so satisfied.  To me he has been bought over or he got what he wanted and he messed up all the rest of the guys in the association.  So what I noticed is that some of them are afraid to really act or on what’s really happening so to me you can’t depend on them so I try to do things  on my own so that I am not depending on them to do anything for me because to me they lost their chances.  They could have gotten much more than what they did if they would keep together because to be honest this bus business all over the world is something that when you keep together you get all what you want.”

The matter is set to be heard before Justice Oswell Legall on July twenty-first.

It is just unfair. I feel for those people but this just shows just how arrogant and insensitive our ministers are. All they think about are themselves. Then, when you stand up for your right, you are victimize by the police department by order of the PM and Deputy PM. This injustice is not just happening. It didnt start with BBOC or Gilharry, It’s been happening for quite sometime. The only comfort I have is believing in what the Bible says, “whatever a man sows that he will reap”!!! Cant wait for Dean Barrow and Gaspar Vega Day!!!

I am a daily comuter, travelling monday to friday from Corozal to Belize City. Venus bus use to charge a lower rate for those who travel daily. this benefited us. now with this new schedule given to Valencia, Morales and Cabrera they dont want give us a lower rate.. this really affects all those who are travelling daily. We want Venus Bus Line back.. at least runs in the mornings and afternoons.

I have been traveling to Belize city and balk every day due to my work and i being traveling with Gilharry bus line for over 15 years. and when you look at the situation it can clearly be seen as unfair. politics preferance because like any other company out there Venus bus line has a number of buses which are new just brought from the USA, with that and them running since i was a young boy 30years ago or so for then to be at the face or this crises its clearly NOT FAIR.
