Bad Boy of Poem, Frank Garcia, From Behind the Walls Volume 2
Belizean Poet Frank Garcia, author of the well received anthology From Behind the Walls, is gearing up for the release of the second installment. The self-proclaimed Bad Boy of Poem is back with another collection which focuses primarily on life lessons he learned while being incarcerated in one of the deadliest prisons in the United States. After an eighteen year stint Garcia relocated to Belize where he began expressing his experiences through poetry. He told News Five all about his latest effort.
Frank Garcia, Poet/Author
“I bring this out because the people mi love volume one. So everybody tell me when you gonna come up with the next poem, the next book. So I decided to get down to start writing on this one, volume two; from behind the walls.”
Isani Cayetano
“What is the content of this poetry book? What are some of the poems you have in there and what inspired your writing of these poems?”
Frank Garcia
“I write due to the fact that I use to have a lifestyle; that roughneck lifestyle back in the days in the South Central and too much of the youths them out of order right now. You see back in the days you used to respect the parents and come up. Even nowadays I tell you the truth the parents is the one that allow these kids to do the things they do right now because for one thing they don’t put the fear of god in their hearts—all that is out the picture completely. So the kids can do anything they want. They just live life to live life. So that’s what I put in my book right here and I think they need to understand that life is real out here—it’s hard and life is real.”
Copies of Garcia’s new release are available for purchase at Benny’s Home Center at mile two and a half on the Northern Highway.
Kudos to Frank… The way things are going, we will be over-run with criminals due to the “Spare-the-rod” approach that Belize is taking. This is being pushed by international rights organizations that have not looked at the other side of the coin which includes the victims of crimes. Nowawadays, the criminal has more rights than the victim… really screwed up! I urge the Min. of Education to become real and let punishment be served where due.
