All roads lead to Orange Walk for P.U.P. Leader’s endorsement convention

On the political front, the People’s United Party held a huge convention in Orange Walk Central over the weekend. The “We dah blue” convention, aside from endorsing Party Leader John Briceño as the Standard Bearer for Orange Walk Central,  introduced team thirty-one, the P.U.P.’s slate for national elections. Party supporters turned out in the thousands and they were hyped up and energized. News Five’s Jose Sanchez has a report from the convention floor.

“This is the time for this party to remain together. I’m going to use a little extract from Barrack Obama when he said there is no blue or red state. There is no old guard P.U.P. or no new guard P.U.P.; there is only one P.U.P.! One P.U.P.! Join together in unity standing strong behind Johnny. My fellow Belizeans, my friends, this is our moment now. From today onward, we start that march towards Belmopan; we start that march to make John Briceño our next Prime Minister and to bring in all thirty-one candidates.”

“The length and breadth of this country; everybody mi get a piece of land. However, while one Orange Walkeno gave us our land, another Orange Walkeno came and took it away from us. But come 2013 it will take another Orange walkeno to give back to our people what they rightfully deserve—startign with their piece of land. Ladies and gentlemen, I come from the beautiful island of Caye Caulker and San Pedro.”

“Dean Barrow likes to talk, he’s a pretty talker; he talks prettier than all of us. But he doesn’t work harder than John Briceño. That is why Johnny will beat him. Johnny works harder than Dean Barrow. He works harder, he listens better, and he cares more. He works harder, he listens better, and he cares more about the Belizean people. That is why Johnny Briceño and the People’s United Party will defeat Barrow and the United Democratic Party whenever they decide to call the election. You’ve heard speaker after speaker talk about the terrible way of life over the past three and a half years for the Belizean people. You know it, you have lived it, you are living it every day and my friends that brings me to our second reason for being here today. We are here today to present the People’s United Party Team—Team thirty-one, Team Belize; to the people of our country.”

The Party adopted Dan Man’s song ‘Tiyad a Gat Nutting.’

“As he pointed out, Dan Man say it; you the people tiyad ah gat nothing. Unu tiyad ah gat nothing! Dah time unu get something. And unu wah get that something with the People’s United Party. How can the U.D.P. control crime in Belize when the biggest criminals are right there in Belmopan. You know the truth of the matter is my friends, what we’re dealing with here is a bully. We have a Prime Minister who is a nasty bully. A nasty bully! You see how he try treat me ina di house—call me all kinda thing—he think he could frighten me, he think he could intimidate me. But like weh I tell ahn: no watch me, watch yuself. You going down Barrow. Yo going down.”

“The blue is on. Let the foundations of this People’s Stadium rock from the power of our great party—el partido unido del pueblo. Let the entire nation know—from north to south, from east to west—that the P.U.P. is ready to rescue Belize again. Let the cry sound out in this nation: We dah blue, we dah blue. Together P.U.P.! P.U.P. all the way.”

Reporting for News Five, Jose Sanchez.

But down south, also on Sunday, the incumbent Juan Coy was re-elected as the U.D.P. Standard Bearer for Toledo west. Coy trashed Senator Pulcheria Teul; he got one thousand, seven hundred and fifty-votes and the senator got six hundred and eighteen.

Well here they go again P U P. Let me say do not make any kind of promise to the people you must know how to step it up. For instance their is lot of idea you can come up with. If you give a peice of land to any Belizean you must pass a law that no party cannot take that land From that person. Then you want to fight crimen ,so in other word get a team of police officer that you will trust and send them to united states of america to get some kind of training. This will lost about three months. Then you to want to get a team of nurses to do same thing. Then you want to create jobs, that will be one of your main goal. If you all create jobs this will help crime and it will help the economy to. You as the party leader will lean how to trust the people that will be elected. You got to remember that some of these individual will act in a way that the people do not approve.
