Senior Citizen murdered in Unitedville

Anthony Trapp

On Monday night we told you that the body of Anthony Trapp, a resident of Unitedville, was discovered after his sister reported him missing. Today a postmortem conducted on the body points to evidence that Trapp was murdered. A search party was combing the area on Monday afternoon and shortly before four Trapp’s body was discovered a couple yards away from his home. News Five’s Andrea Polanco reports.

Andrea Polanco, Reporting

Residents of Unitedville gathered to pay their last respects to sixty-one year old Anthony Trapp. Trapp, who is described as a respectful and friendly senior citizen was brutally murdered over the weekend.

Martha Jones, Sister of the Deceased

“I cud jus seh dat mi bredda death dah somebody kill ah, that’s all I could seh because according to the post-mortem weh deh duh todeh nuh I gone and I witness the postmortem . Ih have wah stab wound to ih back the lower pat ah the higher part ah back sorry and ih have wah head injury weh ih crack ih skull and ih have two broken part of his jaw right here.”

Martha Jones

Trapp was out socializing with friends at a party on Saturday night when he was injured in a fight. He then made his way over to a neighboring bar where he was last seen alive.

Martha Jones

“Yes an incident did and ih get wah stab wound. As far as I know, I know one of the guys that stabbed him and umm ih had several people but I can’t say it is one, two three, four five person I can’t say how many numbers yuh know but I know that ih had ah incident down at a graduation party, a fight on the road side.”

Andrea Polanco

“You wouldn’t happen to know what was the cause of that fight?”

Martha Jones

“No, no because he dah somebody weh nuh mess with nobody he dah just wah cool guy.”

Andrea Polanco

“So after he left that party, he was making his way to where?”

Martha Jones

“He come to the bar, he come up to the bar because people see him dah di bar, they dance with him dah and after the closing ah the bar he went missing not too far from the bar.”

Andrea Polanco

“The family maybe suspects that one of the men with whom he was involved in the incident probably killed him?”

Martha Jones

“Yes that’s what I feel.”

Andrea Polanco

“And those are residents from right here?”

Martha Jones

“Umm, one of them is from Esperanza village and the rest ah people ih mi di associate with that night is from Unitedville.”

Trapp was murdered off this feeder road among these bushes where his belongings were found.  However, his nude body was discovered further up along the road on Sunday morning.

Andrea Polanco

“Do you believe that the area where his belongings were found that’s the area where they killed him and then they dumped his body at that other location?”

Martha Jones

“Yes because the stone, the pool ah blood and everything deh right down deh. Yuh si the stone yuh nuh, deh find the stone weh hit ah eena ih head so much times, everything deh right down. Ih clothes, ih boxers yuh know.”

Andrea Polanco

“I understand some of his belongings were found not too far from here as well?”

“That’s right, more up on the hill that’s where they found his shirt, and his glasses and some blood.”

Andrea Polanco

“So the body that was here was nude when it was discovered?”

Voice of: Resident of Unitedville

“Yes ma’am.”

His body was buried under leaves near the road, but no one realized that it was Trapp.

Voice of: Resident of Unitedville

“Well we don’t know because then people pass by but they see umm they thought it was a dead dog or something because it was covered up with some coconut leaves, so nobody suspect what it was yuh undastand. Because mostly if anything cover up with leaves or anything yuh wouldn’t on Sunday morning time barely anybody traffic up inna the road and especially like how school is out hardly anybody and dah mostly vehicles pass by in the day time.”

Andrea Polanco

“So how did somebody realize that it was a body that was actually here?”

Voice of: Resident of Unitedville

“Well they were having the search, they were searching for him and umm I guess two little girls that were coming they thought it was a dog also and they scream out and a guy came by and the guy saw the hand.”

But Trapp wasn’t the type who’d get into fights and the community is still in shock:

Voice of: Resident of Unitedville

“Well as I know Mr. Anthony Trapp for so many years, I know him as a quiet person I never know him as no trouble person or anything.”

Andrea Polanco

Sylvia Chacon

“He wasn’t the type of person who’d get in these frequent brawls, these fights around the community?”

Martha Jones

“No uh huh he dah nuh dah type ah person.”

Sylvia Chacon, Sister-in-law of the Deceased

“From there, that was nine-thirty ten in the morning so I told him and he comes over and told his sister about it and from then we start to search.”

Andrea Polanco

“But you didn’t expect that you’d find him dead.”

Sylvia Chacon

“I didn’t expect, I didn’t expect anything from him because the people here know him right he is well known. I don’t know why whosoever do this to him because he doesn’t do harm to nobody, nobody he is a friendly person. This is a shock to the whole family. This is a shock and I couldn’t believe it that he died that like that because they killed him and they just went and drop him like wah dog.”

Reporting for News Five, I am Andrea Polanco.

Up to news time no arrests have been made. Trapp’s murder takes up the number of killings over this past weekend to three.

  3. Justice says:

Why would such a person be harmed and idiots like Barrow are allowed to be free and do what they want? The worls is not fair!

  4. Old Belize gyal says:

I believe that the cold bloodied murder of SENIOR CITIZENS, and CHILDREN, should carry a special penalty. Belize city is a ghost town by 6:30 pm when Local News starts. We live in constant fear despite our barred windows, doors, alarms, guard dogs and security cameras!

Our well paid DPP can’t get the conviction rate up from 3%; the BPD is loaded with dirty cops and what’s our PM’s SOLUTION: Try them, Convict them, Hang them and take the tints off those vehicles. NOW LETS MOVE ON TO THE NEXT TOPIC!

  5. BelCan says:

RIP Tillah, Unitedville will not be the same without you. This is a shame and disgrace. Not even our little village is safe these days.
